Real time information is critical when dealing with life-or-death situations. From mission critical communication to intelligent tracking of vehicles to tools that help police determine the location of gunshots, IoT is changing the way first responders react to emergencies and save lives. Fire departments are improving their response thanks to sensors and databases providing advance information on the number of building occupants, floor plans and other useful information. IoT allows EMTs to access patient records from databases on the go, transmit patients’ vital signs to hospitals while they are in transit and provide hospital staff the information they need to prepare for intake.

IoT is transforming building management by making buildings smarter and more energy efficient. Building managers can respond more quickly to alarms, predictive cleaning and waste management; owners can comply with local regulations; and tenants have easy access to information on energy use, air quality, and leak detection. Information is available real-time and remotely and enables people to promote sustainability and conservation.
