Governing the IoT Ecosystem: How Public Policy May Shape (or Thwart) Business Opportunities
INN-01
Morgan Lewis
INCOMPAS
LinkLabs
Google
In reshaping the economy and the way we live, the Internet also put pressure on regulators to act far more swiftly than they’re used to, on far more complex issues. Now the Internet of Things is increasing that burden and complexity even further. How must public policy evolved as the IoT affords not just new opportunities but new threats? How can the industry provide substantive guidance to Congress and other governing bodies? What initiatives are already under way or being actively contemplated?

NB-IoT: Complimentary to the Here and Now?
INN-02
WIA
Telus
Verizon Wireless
Narrowband IoT promises to make the existing network capabilities and make them better for low power requirements from IoT. Does NB-IoT represent an internal competitive strategy to the wireless operators use of CAT M1 solutions? How do these strategies fit together? Is there an aspect of the use of NB-IoT modules that make the cost benefits tip for the Enterprise?

One of the biggest benefits of IoT is that fact that it turns any standalone product into something with supplemental services. How does that impact product strategies? Are companies differentiating on services? Embedding into product costs? Extending the life cycle of existing solutions? This panel discusses the impact of IoT on product life cycle management.

Why DIY is DOA for IoT Security
INN-04
CENTRI
Securing IoT is unlike any other computing scenario we’ve secured in the past. Like icing on a cake, nearly all previous security solutions have been ‘layered’ on top of the device. This approach to secure IoT simply is not possible. For IoT, security needs to be in the cake batter… before the cake is baked. The critical importance of IoT in today’s IT infrastructure has passed the threshold of tolerance for using open source or DIY solutions. Most organizations need complete, flexible, commercial solutions including management (GUI), reporting and analytics…and designed to be ‘in the cake batter’ and not layered on.

Meshify
In general, consumer products are designed to be cheap and readily available, while business systems are often custom and specialized. However, consumer solutions are often evolving and represent an innovator’s dilemma. Where are consumer solutions being used innovatively and where should we expect the Enterprise to buy off the shelf IoT?

MVNOs and The Enterprise: The Global View
INN-06
KORE
Alex Brisbourne, President and COO of Kore, has said that every Enterprise, no matter how big or small, is a global company these days. Suppliers and customers are worldwide and that means that keeping connected with IoT allows for enhanced customer services. How can Enterprises use MNVOs to improve their experiences?

Low Power Wide Area Networks; LoRa, RPMA, Sigfox
INN-08
There are so many strategies to support IoT connectivity, and yet LTE with CAT M1 and NB providers are claiming they are the answer to these problems. Is the issue one of economies of scale or ubiquity of coverage to total cost of ownership? We invite this panel to speak from the perspective of the Enterprise requirements and how they select their solutions.
