Gustavo Sorgente joined Cisco Systems in 2011, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry. He currently serves as Cisco’s Managing Director, Sales for the Central America, Northern South America and Caribbean (CANSAC) region in Latin America. Mr. Sorgente led a critical transformation of CANSAC from sub-regions to segment-led to ensure sustainable growth, resulting in high dividends to the region, the team and the company.

Prior to joining Cisco, Mr. Sorgente served in a variety of business management roles with Wang, IBM and Sun Microsystems (acquired by Oracle). He spent half of his career in the services side of the IT business building services delivery teams, as well as developing systems integration and tailor-made infrastructure solutions addressing specific business issues mainly in the fields of healthcare, transportation and finance. Mr. Sorgente then transitioned into the business world initially as a product sales specialist and then into the solutions-based space creating industry-focused teams as well as complex partner and alliance matrixes designed to fulfill state-of-the-art, end-to-end business solutions.

While at Sun, he held leadership positions including Senior Vice President for Latin America, President and General Manager for South Cone, President and General Manager for Spanish Latin America and Caribe (merging the north and south regions of the LatAm organizations), and Partners and Alliances Director for Latin America and Canada, among other roles. He began his career as a computer engineer specialized in microelectronics and operating systems, and later in the areas of interoperability and application software development with a focus in knowledge-based systems. During his tenure at Sun, Mr. Sorgente was known for his ability to lead operations through deep organizational changes during high market or internal pressure, often involving multicultural teams working under complex matrix structures across every country in Latin America.

Mr. Sorgente has a background in electronics and systems engineering and received his executive education at Columbia University’s Business School.

Robert Faludi is the Chief Innovator at Digi International. Faludi also works as a professor in the MFA program at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and in the Interactive Telecommunications graduate program at NYU. He frequently consults on interactive projects including recent work in entertainment, architecture and toys. David Woodard is a software developer in Eurotech’s global Everyware Software Framework (ESF) and Everyware Cloud software development group. These software solutions tie together fully integrated applications at the edge of a network (IoT gateway and programmable sensors) and business applications in the enterprise environment. David is an active contributor and project lead for the Eclipse Foundation Kura project, which is an open source framework for IoT gateways built on Java and OSGi-based technologies. Before joining Eurotech, David led Arrow Electronic’s Arrow Cloud Connect initiative, which gives engineers a low overhead introduction to IoT technologies. David holds a Masters of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Portland State University.

Mr. Wall currently serves as Chief Technology Officer for Hewlett-Packard’s Printing and Personal Systems. In this role, he is responsible for leading Hewlett-Packard’s technology vision and strategy, incubating new technology businesses, driving a fully aligned technology roadmap and leading the overall technical community.

Prior to joining Hewlett-Packard, Shane spent more than a decade at Intel in different executive roles including VP of Corporate Technology Group, VP Channel Platform Solutions and VP for Intel’s Mobile Communications Group. Shane also worked as a Director within Intel Capital responsible for internal venturing and investments.

Prior to joining Intel, Wall was Co-Founder and Vice President for Product Development at a venture-backed, software company, PrintPaks. Wall began his career at Hewlett-Packard as an ASIC and embedded systems engineer.

Shane also serves as an active angel investor in new startups and serves on various startup and technology boards.

Wall holds a degree in computer engineering from Oregon State University. He is also a graduate of the executive program at Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

Gurvinder Ahluwalia is the “Field” CTO for Cloud Computing across IBM’s Hardware, Software, Service business for the US market. In this role he has architecture solutioning duties to customers around 70% of IBM’s cloud portfolio and other open and modern development technologies.

Guri has deployed customer solutions spanning 3 computing generations of our times. During Distributed Computing generation, Guri deployed the 2nd largest commercial TCP/IP network in the world. During the Internet/Mobile generation, he led various web commerce implementations; and he charted seminal direction for the industry on Internet of Things which culminated into the MIT AutoID initiative. Gurvinder led the architecture program to land Embedded Linux on a handheld device for the first time by a US OEM. During the current Cloud generation, Guri provides architecture leadership to solution, migrate, and integrate applications and edge devices for business enabled by cloud.

Gurvinder is engaged in standards-related and open-source movements including OpenStack, CloudFoundry, NIST, and The Open Group. He hosts the Dallas developers “Meetup” on Cloud Foundry and Bluemix. Guri is a frequent speaker at industry events including DesignWest, Interop, CloudExpo, VentureBeat, M2MEvolution, Samsung and other Developer Conferences.

She is active on the worldwide MEMS conference circuit as a keynote speaker and panelist promoting MIG’s role as the leading trade association advancing MEMS across global markets. Karen manages the operations of MIG; spearheads strategic growth and oversees sales, public relations, marketing and outreach. Larry’s career spans 35 years deeply entrenched in technology. Mr. Steffann held several roles with a number of startups, from advisor, angel investor and as executive/founder. He served in executive roles at two publicly traded companies, CEO of NSO/AMEX and COO BOCI/Nasdaq. As a serial entrepreneur, Mr. Steffann’s recent roles have included GM of the Wireless Research Center of North Carolina and VP of Product Development for Consert, a Smart Energy start up in Raleigh North Carolina. Consert raised more than $40 million in funding prior to being sold to Toshiba. Larry Co-Founded Joystick Labs, the initial tenant of the American Underground at the American Tobacco Campus, in Durham, NC. Mr. Steffann is also a Co-Founder of NC RIOT (North Carolina Regional Internet of Things). The RIoT, as it is fondly called, has grown its membership to nearly 1,200 members representing hundreds of companies in just over one year. Founded in 2014 the group represents a terrific way for the community to understand, and take action upon, the rapidly emerging global IoT opportunities. Mr. Steffann has been a serial mentor both as a corporate executive and as a community minded citizen. This began with Israeli Incubators and continued as an Executive-in-Residence at North Carolina State University. Mr. Steffann mentored for the Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) as a Fast Track and VMS mentor. He now applies this combination of executive leadership and hands on mentorship to economic development – the primary mission of The Wireless Research Center of North Carolina and NC RIoT.

During his 7-year stint in Brazil, Andy also worked as a senior consultant at Telefinance, a financial services group, focused on mergers & acquisitions activity, strategic consulting, infrastructure & device financing deals and due diligence projects in the telecommunications industry. Prior to that, Castonguay headed Pyramid Research’s Brazil telecoms practice. Before his work in telecoms, Andy worked as researcher at the Health Care Advisory Board in the US focused on the US healthcare industry systems. A frequent speaker and panel moderator at industry conferences and events, Andy is fluent in English and Portuguese.
