John is a 35-year veteran of executive level sales and marketing leadership across a wide variety of vertical markets including personal computers, IP-based retail payment systems, wireless networking, industrial sensor networks, telecommunications, and utility smart grid infrastructure. He has assisted large public companies and small start-ups to design and execute value-based product marketing and customer acquisition strategies with technology-based hardware and software products and services. In 2006, John was recruited by Sensus, in Raleigh to launch the Sensus FlexNet advanced two-way wireless infrastructure to North American utilities. John managed the team that closed over $1 Billion in long-term wireless contracts with water, gas, and electric utilities and propelled Sensus’ clean tech business to global market share leadership with 32 million endpoints under contract. In 2012, John was promoted to Executive Vice President to manage the overall Sensus North American business unit. Recently, Mr. Stafford was recruited by Solekai Systems in San Diego as President and CEO. John now leads Solekai’s 10X software design services business in North America focused on mission-critical, high availability digital media, connected health, smart grid, mobility and cloud. John provides pro-bono advice and mentoring to the San Diego technology start-up ecosystem through advisor relationships with the University of California, CommNexus, and selected Southern California venture capitalists.
